August Bliss: Experience the Euphoria of ‘August’ by the Sensational Flipturn – This Month’s Aptly Titled Song of the Month!

Originating from Fernandina Beach, Florida, Flipturn emerged as a vibrant indie rock band. The trio, made up of vocalist Dillon Basse, bassist Madeline Jarman, and lead guitarist Tristan Duncan, encapsulates the spirit of youthful energy. Starting their musical journey in the intimate confines of Madeline’s garage, the group came together post-school hours to craft a repertoire of poignant coming-of-age tracks. Rapidly catapulting into the limelight, Flipturn swiftly made a reputation as an essential live act to witness, captivating audiences throughout the expanse of Florida.

Surpassing a remarkable milestone of 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, the band’s journey has been nothing short of impressive since their introduction EP of Heavy Colours, back in the year of 2017.

For this August’s Kaleidoscopic MelodicsSong of The Month pick, the spotlight gracefully falls on the glorious composition aptly named August. Originally released in 2018 and taken off Flipturn‘s Citrona album, this track intertwines a progressive melody with introspective verses, effortlessly escorting you into a realm of daydreams.

“August is based on a relationship I had in my life where things seemed to only work out in the month of August. In that month everything was perfect and seemed like it would last forever. Yet outside that one month everything would fall apart until ironically the next August. The song is supposed to reflect on how in life we come across people that at times are the closest people to us and know us better than anyone, then at another they become complete strangers.”

Dillon Basse.

Over the span of these past four weeks, this song has nestled itself as a personal favourite of mine. Not only does its title resonate harmoniously with the current month, but its lyrical essence blends splendidly with the shape of my current life experiences. A composition that has graced my ears repeatedly, and one I wholeheartedly recommend!
