SINGLE: WHAT’S IT LIKE TO LOVE ME – MEADOWLARK

Meadowlark are a British electro pop duo and a band that I’ve reviewed on the website before. Made up of the oh so gifted Kate McGill and Daniel Broadley; Meadowlark has recently spoiled us something rotten with the number of songs they have released so far this 2023 and I for one, am loving it! Their latest single: What’s It Like To Love Me somewhat segregates itself from previous releases with the dropping of their distinctive electronic side. Laying bare a more stripped back acoustic number while in my opinion, still retaining the comfortingly recognisable Meadowlark magic.

First written two years ago in a time of anxiety for McGill, the track reveals a questioning of herself within relationships and with the blissfully delicate strumming of guitar in hand with the soft and sweet vocals of McGill, What’s It Like To Love Me has us willingly sitting in a bubble of relatability and sympathy

“My personality is ok. My loving people super-hard is ok. My insecurities are ok. People leaving me is even ok! There’s nothing wrong with who I am or how life naturally unfolds. Becoming conscious of this was a game-changer for me.”

– Kate McGill

What’s It Like To Love Me was released on McGill’s 33rd Birthday (March 10th) in reflection of how far she’s come. This single, alongside the other recent releases for the band, has left us hooked on Meadowlark and massively looking forward to their 2023 album.
