After a 5-year hiatus, Cage the Elephant makes a triumphant return with their blazing new single, Neon Pill.
Cage the Elephant’s much-anticipated Neon Pill is the latest instalment following their Grammy Award-winning album, Social Cues, released in 2019. Once again, the band collaborates with producer John Hill, renowned for his contributions to their successful 2019 album.
In this latest track, the unmistakable vocals of front-man Matt Shultz tenderly reflect on a past romance, captured by the irresistibly catchy chorus lyrics: “It’s a hit and run, oh no. Double-crossed by a neon pill. Like a loaded gun, my love. Double-crossed, crossed by a neon pill.” Enhanced by electrifying guitar licks and an undeniable beat, Cage the Elephant presents Neon Pill in their signature style.
Neon Pill also marks the band’s first release, following Shultz’s legal issues last year. In January 2023, he faced charges related to illegal possession of loaded firearms, pleading guilty to three counts. Fortunately, he secured a no-jail plea deal under the terms that he abides by certain conditions.
Cage the Elephant are said to be gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album.
