SINGLE: NOTHING MAKES SENSE – MICHAEL BLACKWELL

Michael Blackwell is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumental musician and producer born in County Durham, UK. He’s best known within the music industry and by his fans for being an incredible backing guitarist for many established musicians, such as; Louis Tomlinson, Amber Run and Lewis Capaldi, to name but a few. His career thus far has already given him a significant following so when he made the announcement that he would be embarking on a solo career with his first single; Nothing Makes Sense set to make its debut on February 24th, the delight through social media very quickly grew. As a matter of fact, a number of fans travelled across the globe in order to see his pre-release live show and if that’s not a form of instant success, well then I’d like someone to please tell me what is. Not to mention the fact that Nothing Makes Sense got over 10,000 Spotify streams in as little as 24 hours. I predict big things for Blackwell’s single-handed endeavours… You heard it here as one of the firsts.

Nothing Makes Sense stirs an immediate attraction which only increases as the track plays on and the electricity behind the song heats up. The addition of Blackwell’s soft and charismatic vocals allows the listener to connect all the more and as the chorus hits, I think it’s safe to say the attachment to the number has been thoroughly made. The meaning behind the lyrics adds an even further enticement as the message is one of relatability. Nothing Makes Sense is about one’s grapples of coming to terms with everyday life and allowing their best intentions to prevail.

“It is easy to feel pressure from social media, confusion from your news feed and uncertainty over each decision you have to make. Even with the most optimistic mindset self-doubt can be unavoidable, I know my shortcomings, my strengths, my weaknesses and I have realised all I can do is try my best even if the world around me seems chaotic.”  – Michael Blackwell

While nothing may make sense to Blackwell, one thing that definitely makes sense to me is the release of this track. I feel somewhat robbed that we didn’t get it sooner, but of course, the timing had to be right for Blackwell. All I can say is I’m glad that time has arrived and here’s to the further exciting adventures awaiting Blackwell and his fans.
