SINGLE: ‘HURT’ – AMBER RUN

As a long standing fan of Amber Run, I see it only fitting to do a write up for their latest single release ‘Hurt’, a track taken from their most recent EP, ‘Act III’ and one that quite frankly, I adore!

Amber Run haven’t been strangers to opening up about their own mental health stories and in hand with that, prevail many deep and heartfelt messages of torment and hope in their music and ‘Hurt’ is no exception. Offering us an infectiously beatific melody and sincere lyrics from the get go, the song soon progresses onto an intensely exhilarating drop off the chorus when the drums and bassline sets in and with the keen spirit behind lead singer; Joe Keogh’s voice, as a matter of course, the track ends up taking us on a journey of rocking out.

Whilst I inevitably love the slow and swayful ballads such as ‘I Found’ and ‘Amen’ by the group, I can’t help but have a soft spot for their more electric, high energy numbers and alongside the meaningful lyrics, ‘Hurt’ is a prime example of how well the band are able to come together, to reinforce exactly what Amber Run do best. Relaying a sense of passion and angst. As well as affection and love.

The word on the street is that Amber Run are set to release their 4th album in the upcoming months with a title of ‘How To Be Human’. A manual guide on “how to feel human as much of the time as possible”. Alongside this, the boys will be heading back out on a UK tour in April 2023. It’s an exciting time for Amber Run fans and I know I, for one, am very much looking forward to what lies ahead.
