SINGLE: DOWN – PMAD

Paul Dillon is a solo artist who soundly combines a gothically alluring, post punk energy with the infectious spirits of indie rock, in order to create an effective musical structure of passion and edge. Based in Galway, Ireland, Dillon goes under the creative name of pMad and this February, 14th witnessed him share his latest single, Down; a song that follows the formation of rising intensity that pMad very cleverly lays down within his music.

The track instantly erupts an exhilarating rumble as the use of fiery guitar, enthusiastic drum play and highly paced electro beats kick off. The then drop of the deeply powerful vocals only adds to the overall zealous magnitude of the number, allowing the listener to feel enthralled and stimulated by what they hear.

The lyrics behind the song evoke an image of psychological disturbance over one’s sense of self, being brought into question from the repercussions of an abusive relationship.

“It reminds us that until we confront these issues and take action to protect ourselves, the cycle of suffering will persist. But by recognizing the preciousness of life and choosing to break free from this cycle, we can stop it beginning again each day!”

Here at Kaleidoscopic Melodic, I was lucky enough to get a preview peak for the official video of Down and couldn’t help but give it a mention. The black and white visuals of highly trippy scenes unfolding throughout time only contributes to the all-embracing severity that comes with the single. The music video is set to drop within the next few weeks so be sure to keep an eye out with a view to feel the track with even deeper emotional impact.
