This month’s regular repeat and SOTM goes to Irish singer-songwriter, Róisín Murphy. An artist whose past track record shows an exploration to all sides of pop, as well as the effortless blending of multiple genres. Murphy certainly knows how to deliver a multi-dimensional and soul-stirring creation when it comes to the music that she makes and her latest single CooCool witnesses her doing it again. With the release of her 7th album to date: Crooked Machine taking place in April 2021, it’s been nearing a two year wait for the lusted after disco track.
“Everything in this song is true and playful. Can we fall in love and retain our sense of humour? ‘Embrace your inner child’ timeless, ageless and unavoidable love.”
Róisín Murphy
Murphy first appeared on German electronic star DJ Koze’s 2018 album; Knock Knock and now the two have come together again to produce the wonderfully alluring CooCool. A track that’s designed to allow its rhythmic magic to take the course of igniting the playful desires that run through one’s veins. The hypnotically dreamy vocals from Murphy fused wondrously with the blithely melodic synthesizers throughout has us feeling allured and excited from start to finish. As a daily repeat for me this month, you could say I’ve heard many Coo-Cool’s to which I’ve blissfully complied.
